Freaky Deaky was amazing. The performances, the Halloween outfits and the stage production gave me plenty to remember, but what impressed me started before I even got inside: getting there, joining the entry line and picking up tickets felt extremely organized.

Once inside, the VIP spaces, beautiful sunsets and huge displays of fire, smoke and lasers made the experience even better. I came away appreciating the whole festival, from the practical details of arrival to the spectacle onstage.

Freaky Deaky: The Revival took place October 30–31, 2026 at the Travis County Exposition Center, 7311 Decker Lane in Austin. Here is what stood out to me.

An organized arrival set the tone

Getting to a festival and through the entrance can shape the whole start of your experience. At Freaky Deaky, the logistics stood out for the right reasons. The flow of getting there, lining up and collecting tickets was extremely organized.

It might not be the part that ends up in the highlight reel, but it deserves credit. Before I started thinking about the performances or the production, I already had a good impression of how the event was being run.

VIP was worth it for me

The VIP sections were 100% worth it. Faster service and better views were the biggest practical benefits, but I also enjoyed the installations and lounge areas. Having spaces to hang out added another dimension to the experience beyond standing in front of a stage.

What I appreciated was the combination. The views helped me enjoy the performances, while the lounge areas gave me somewhere to spend time between them. Those are the details I would consider when deciding whether VIP fits the kind of festival experience you want.

GA vs. VIP: what the upgrade cost

I enjoyed VIP, but I would also recommend GA for friends who want to focus their budget on the music and Halloween atmosphere. The core appeal was the festival itself.

For a useful comparison, here are the two-day ticket prices recorded in TTDA’s October 26, 2026 ticket-shop check. They include the listed service fee; taxes or other checkout charges could still apply. Prices varied by sales tier.

2026 two-day admission: price and inclusions
TicketListed priceMore than GAWhat it included
GA$189.95—Two-day festival entry.
GA+$249.95+$60.00Festival entry, expedited entry and air-conditioned restrooms.
VIP$309.96+$120.01Festival entry, expedited entry, dedicated viewing areas at multiple stages, air-conditioned restrooms, private bars and a collectible laminate.
FREAK VIP$399.96+$210.01VIP benefits plus the FREAK VIP Sky Lounge with its own bar, bathrooms and treats.

At that snapshot, VIP was $120.01 more than GA for the weekend, or about $60 extra per festival day. GA+ sat between them at $60 more than GA. I would choose the upgrade based on how much the viewing areas, service and downtime spaces matter to your group. A private bar is an access perk; it does not mean drinks are included.

Beautiful sunsets, then fire, smoke and lasers

The beautiful sunsets were a highlight of my experience, giving the festival a memorable backdrop before the nighttime production took over. There was some light rain, but it did not stop the party. People were still having a blast.

The stage was epic. Fire, smoke and an insane amount of lasers were a huge part of what made the performances feel so spectacular. There was plenty to take in, and the production was one of the first things I wanted to talk about afterward.

The photos throughout this recap capture that range: a golden sky behind the stage, fireworks overhead and multicolored beams stretching across a covered performance space.

For some context on the scale, Laser Light Company’s postfestival account reports 28 KVANT laser projectors across three stages. That production detail puts a number to the laser spectacle that stood out to me.

Halloween weather: pack a layer, keep the plans

For a future Halloween trip, I would bring a light layer and a poncho that works with your costume. Late-October Austin averages are around 77°F by day and 53°F overnight, so an afternoon outfit may need an extra layer after dark. Check our Austin forecast before heading out.

This year brought a cooler Friday and warmer Saturday. Austin–Bergstrom recorded highs of 71°F and 80°F, respectively, with rain concentrated on Friday. For me, the lasting memory was the fun, the sunsets and the excitement around the stages.

A friendly crowd with full Halloween energy

The crowd brought so much personality. There were elaborate costumes, bright colors, masks and all kinds of different looks, but the feeling was friendly and fun. People were excited to be there, and that energy carried beyond the stages.

It felt like a place where you could lean into Halloween without overthinking your outfit. Go all out, keep it simple, be yourself. That relaxed, welcoming atmosphere was a big part of what I enjoyed, and it made the whole festival feel like a great night out with friends.

The photo below captures it perfectly: a group of festivalgoers in completely different costumes, gathered beneath those giant skeletal hands. The music brought everyone together, but the people gave the weekend its character.

A Halloween outing to share with friends

I would put this on the list for a group outing with friends who enjoy electronic music and dressing up. The costumes, production and shared excitement give you plenty to enjoy together. You do not need to make VIP the condition for going; GA still gets your group into the festival.

What I liked about the Halloween atmosphere was the freedom to have fun with your look. It felt like a place to embrace a costume and your own personality, rather than worry about fitting one particular style. That welcoming, come-as-you-are spirit is part of why I would recommend it as a friend outing.

The big names on the 2026 lineup

The lineup was another major part of the appeal. The official day-by-day bill included Disco Lines, Liquid Stranger, Crankdat, Boogie T, SIDEPIECE, WHETHAN and Zingara on Friday. Saturday featured ILLENIUM, SLANDER, Odd Mob, D.O.D, ALLEYCVT, Interplanetary Criminal and Mary Droppinz, among others.

The festival spread the music across four stages: The Reactor, The Lab, The Chamber and The Circuit. That gave you room to build your own night around who was playing and when, whether you wanted to stick with a favorite or head to another stage for a different sound. With a group, I would pick a few must-see sets and a meeting spot before splitting up.

A quick note on reentry

Reentry was not allowed. Once you left the festival grounds, you could not come back in that day. I would plan to stay once inside, bring what you need within the event’s bag rules, and sort out your group’s ride home in advance. Our parking and entry notes have the practical details.

What I will remember

The lineup was great, the performances were epic and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. But what made Freaky Deaky such a positive experience for me was how those pieces came together.

I appreciated the organized arrival, enjoyed the VIP spaces and loved watching the sunset before the fire, smoke and lasers became the focus. It was an amazing festival experience, and the production and festive crowd gave me plenty to remember.
