Barton Creek Greenbelt Overview
WHY ARE THERE MULTIPLE ADDRESSES:
The Barton Creek Greenbelt has multiple entrances along the creek. Above are just some of the most popular entry points. For more info on accessing the trail, or about swimming, fishing and park rules - please visit the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Dept. website.
WHAT'S THE VIOLET CROWN TRAIL:
The Violet Crown Trail runs through much of, but not entirely within, the Barton Creek Greenbelt. It starts at the Zilker access point down to Hwy 290 in susnet Valley. It will eventually reach the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and into Hays County. APF partnered with Hill Country Conservancy to place mile markers on the trail in 2016, and is working with HCC to build a brand new trailhead at Zilker in 2018.
INVESTING IN THE BARTON CREEK GREENBELT:
At Austin Parks Foundation, they recognize the importance of the Barton Creek Greenbelt and have dedicated to long-term investments into the trail. They've partnered with Austin City Limits Music Festival, Texas Conservation Corps, REI, and others to make sure the greenbelt is enjoyed for generations to come.
People + Parks Since 1992:
Austin Parks Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to partnering with the Austin community to enhance people’s lives by making Austin's parks better through volunteerism, innovative programming, advocacy, and financial support.
