Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026. The right Austin-area Turkey Trot depends on whether you want a timed run, an easy family outing or a dirt-trail morning. These four confirmed options are not all in Austin proper: Round Rock, The Hills and Hutto are labeled separately so you can plan the drive.

The table combines current organizer and registration pages linked below. It is not a ranking by finish time or popularity. Budget separately for processing fees, transport and optional purchases.

ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot: Austin

Start at the Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Drive. Choose the five-mile run for the biggest morning commitment or the mile for a shorter outing. The Kids K is for ages 12 and under. The organizer separates timed and untimed five-mile starts, so follow the start for your registration rather than a generic calendar time. Event details · Check registration.

The official parking page lists Palmer/Long Center and State Garage N as free options, with City Hall and One Texas Center pay-to-park alternatives. Check that guidance again before leaving; space is not reserved by a race entry. Do not park in surrounding neighborhoods. Find the Long Center. Round Rock Turkey Trot: pickup matters

This untimed 5K starts at 8am near Lakeview Pavilion in Old Settlers Park, 1501 Harrell Parkway. It costs $25 before applicable fees; everyone must register, including children riding in strollers. Leashed friendly dogs are welcome, strollers start at the back, and bikes and scooters are not allowed.

There is no race-day bib pickup. Collect bibs November 24 or 25, noon–6:30pm, at Fleet Feet, 3750 Gattis School Road, Suite 500. For parking, approach Sports Capital Xing via Kenney Fort Boulevard and use the lots behind the Multipurpose Complex; follow race signs to the tunnel and meeting point. Hill Country Turkey Trot: The Hills

The Lake Travis-area option takes place at The Hills Country Club Signature Golf Course, 26 Club Estates Parkway, at 8am. Adult entry is listed at $45 timed or $40 untimed. Ages 6–18 are $35 timed or $30 untimed; ages 0–5 are listed free in the untimed category. A certified 5K and a one-mile route suit different pace goals.

Packet pickup is November 25, 11am–4pm, at Hill Country Indoor. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed after November 10. The registration page does not specify a parking allocation or parking charge: request arrival instructions rather than assuming every club space is available. Race location. Hutto Turkey Trail Trot: choose dirt

Hippo Social Club, 3250 Limmer Loop in Hutto, offers 1.1–3.1-mile natural dirt routes starting at 8:30am. The $25 entry increases after October 30 at 11:59pm. Expect roots, rocks and uneven inclines; the organizer does not recommend strollers. Children and leashed dogs are welcome. This is a rain-or-shine, nonrefundable event supporting Backpack Friends.

The published page does not give a parking rate or detailed lot plan. Check your confirmation and ask the organizer before arrival. For a group with mixed mobility needs, compare the road-course options before choosing the trail. Event details · Check registration. Trail conditions and registration terms.

Compare the family total, not just the headline

For illustration, two adults entering the ThunderCloud mile and two children entering its Kids K total $80 before fees. Four Round Rock registrations total $100. Two adult and two youth untimed Hill Country entries total $140. These are arithmetic examples, not equivalent packages: distances, age bands and start times differ. A low entry price can lose its advantage if the pickup trip requires a second long drive.

Questions to settle before Thanksgiving

Can we collect packets on race morning? Do not assume so: Round Rock explicitly rules it out. Use each organizer’s instructions, not another race’s policy.

Should we book lunch immediately afterward? Leave a buffer for finishing, finding your group and leaving the parking area. Choose your dinner commitment first, then work backward to a suitable distance and drive.

What else can visiting family do? For another day, compare our Austin scavenger hunt guide or bookable experiences. Check the actual holiday calendar before reserving; Thanksgiving availability is not guaranteed. Plan December outings with our Trail of Lights guide.
