Icenhauer's is located in a renovated house at 83 Rainey Street. Originally built in 1895 as a traditional "wing and gable" house, it remained a family residence until 2009. Over the years, it was owned by several different families and, unfortunately, had fallen into severe disrepair. But — like several other homes on the block — it now has a new life. In 2010, Michael Hsu Office of Architecture and Franklin-Alan Construction renovated this old house, salvaging as much of the original house as possible and adding new structure and interior. The entryway and the front two rooms of the house are original construction. The vinyl and paint were removed, revealing the original wood floors and walls. The foundation and the remaining structure of the house is all new construction. Through the demolition and construction process, we received a glimpse of the many faces this house has had, including several different exterior paint colors (yellow, green, white, and gray), various vinyl wall coverings, and the effect that 100 years of earth settlement can have on a pier and beam house — up to 18 inches in floor height variance. Today, with a new purpose, the house is full of life.  Our handcrafted drinks, made with fresh ingredients, are special to us and we think you will enjoy them as well.  Thank you for thinking of us and we look forward to serving you soon!
