A $10 museum visit, a one-hour ghost walk and an eight-hour Hill Country tour solve different planning problems. For a short indoor outing, start with the museums. For an outdoor family day, consider Austin Zoo. For an active splurge, look at iFLY; for a day outside the city, compare the Austin-departing Hill Country tour.

*Advertised USD per-person minimums in our October 30, 2026 Tiqets catalog snapshot. These are not live quotes. Age categories, dates, fees, extras and availability vary. Four of these six catalog prices were below $40; this is not a survey of every Austin attraction or proof of the cheapest booking channel.
1. Neill-Cochran House Museum

Best fit: Austin history on a smaller budget. Time: About an hour.
Choose this for an unhurried look at Austin history rather than a high-energy attraction. Admission includes a self-guided audio tour; the house and its interpretation offer a different kind of afternoon from downtown entertainment venues. Leave room to read the exhibits instead of treating it as a quick photo stop.
Before you book: The museum lists general admission at $10, seniors and students with ID at $8, and children under 12 free. Check direct admission categories before buying adult tickets for the whole family. The first floor and restrooms are wheelchair accessible; the second floor has no elevator.
Address: 2310 San Gabriel Street, Austin, TX 78705
Parking and arrival: Confirm visitor parking with the museum before arrival. Nearby University of Texas parking is separately regulated; a space near campus is not automatically free or available to museum visitors.
Explore the museum's official virtual tour before deciding whether this is the right stop for your group.

2. Austin Zoo

Best fit: Families who want time outdoors. Time: Flexible outdoor visit.
This nonprofit rescue zoo is southwest of central Austin, so treat it as its own outing rather than a quick stop between downtown reservations. Expect a primarily outdoor visit and choose shoes and clothing for the forecast. Families can move at their own pace instead of following a fixed tour departure.
Before you book: The comparison price covers admission, not a promise that every encounter, ride or extra is included. Visit Austin notes that outside food and drinks are allowed, making a packed lunch an option. The Tiqets ticket in our catalog is nonrefundable and cannot be rescheduled: check the weather and final terms first.
Address: 10808 Rawhide Trail, Austin, TX 78736
Parking and arrival: Visit Austin confirms free parking on site. Navigate to the zoo itself, not another Austin-area animal attraction. Allow for the drive back before booking an evening activity downtown.

3. Austin haunted walking tour

Best fit: An outdoor evening with ghost stories. Time: One hour.
This is a guided ghost-story walk with US Ghost Adventures, not a haunted house with actors and not a Halloween-only festival. It suits an evening when you want an activity between dinner and the rest of your night without committing to a full-day excursion.
Before you book: The ticket instructions say to meet outside the Downtown Omni entrance by the stairs and valet area at 8th and Brazos, 15 minutes early. The hotel does not operate the tour. Wear walking shoes, check child ticket categories, and ask the operator about accessibility before booking; the product is not marked wheelchair accessible.
Address: 205 East 8th Street, Austin, TX 78701
Parking and arrival: Parking is not included. Choose a downtown garage or legal street space with enough time to walk to the meeting point. A hotel valet area used as a meeting landmark does not mean hotel parking is included.

4. Museum of Illusions Austin

Best fit: Indoor photos and interactive exhibits. Time: 45-90 minutes.
Pick this for perspective rooms, optical illusions and playful photos at The Domain. It is an indoor alternative to the zoo or a walking tour when the weather is poor. The museum recommends 45 to 90 minutes, so it can fit beside a meal or shopping without taking the entire day.
Before you book: The museum says children four and younger enter free and minors need adult supervision. It is wheelchair accessible, although slanted-floor rooms may need to be bypassed. Reserve the right time and read the ticket conditions; do not assume a starting price applies to every date or age group.
Address: 11010 Domain Drive, Austin, TX 78758
Parking and arrival: The museum identifies the Orange Parking Garage at The Domain as its closest parking option. Use the garage map separately from the museum address, and check signs for current restrictions.

5. Hill Country & LBJ Ranch from Austin

Best fit: A full day outside the city. Time: Eight hours.
This is an Austin-departing day trip, not an attraction located in Austin. The eight-hour itinerary includes pickup from select downtown hotels and an English-speaking guide. Reserve the day for the excursion rather than trying to add it between city activities.
Before you book: The Texas White House rehabilitation means you should not expect an interior tour of the house. Ask the operator to confirm the ranch stops for your departure. Optional National Museum of the Pacific War admission and gratuities are not included in the catalog ticket. Confirm meal arrangements rather than assuming lunch is covered.
Parking and arrival: Confirm your pickup hotel and time with the operator first. No parking is advertised as included; ask that hotel about visitor parking and fees if you are driving there. Do not navigate to LBJ Ranch to join an Austin hotel-pickup tour.

6. iFLY Austin

Best fit: An active indoor experience. Time: Confirm your selected package.
A vertical wind tunnel creates the flight experience indoors, with training, equipment and instructor assistance. This is the most expensive starting ticket in this small comparison, but it buys a different activity from museum admission. Choose it for the flight itself, not because a higher price guarantees a longer outing.
Before you book: Check the package's flight count and total session length before paying. Bring snug lace-up shoes and comfortable clothes. Age, weight, medical eligibility and waiver requirements apply. This Tiqets product does not allow cancellation or rescheduling, so confirm eligibility directly with iFLY before purchase.
Address: 13265 N US Highway 183, Austin, TX 78750
Parking and arrival: Parking arrangements and charges are not confirmed in the ticket information we checked. Contact iFLY for arrival guidance and follow your ticket's check-in instructions rather than assuming a parking space is included.

Build a day that makes geographic sense
Keep The Domain and northwest Austin plans together where possible. Give the zoo its own outdoor block, and save a downtown ghost walk for an evening when you can reach the meeting point without rushing. The Hill Country tour is a full-day commitment outside Austin. Check travel time for your actual departure and avoid treating these six stops as a single itinerary.
Use the Austin trip planner to organize your choices and check the Austin weather forecast before buying a nonrefundable outdoor ticket. For a different type of outing, compare Austin boat rentals or browse all tours and experiences.
Budget beyond admission
Compare the final checkout total for your actual group, not six adult minimum prices multiplied by the head count. Add transport, parking and any optional activities. An inexpensive ticket across town can involve more travel time than a slightly higher-priced option beside your hotel. For street parking, consult Austin's official parking guidance and zone map and follow posted signs.
