What this event is about
Icosa presents Soil Horizons, as part of its Window Dressing Series which will be on view 24/7 from September 14-21, 2026 along with an artist talk and opening event on September 18th from 7-9pm. A series of abstract ceramic works will be based on the plummed serpent or Quetzalcoatl, one of the most iconic and prominent figures in ancient Mesoamerican cultures. As a figure of duality—snake and bird, earth and sky, native and foreigner, Quetzalcoatl has served for centuries as a vessel for otherness and our connection to the cosmos and the past. Rooted in traditional ceramic handbuilding and experimentation, earthy textures and ethereal tones, the works will embody Quetzalcoatl’s aesthetic dualities.
