Event overview

What this event is about

Illuminate is the speaker series presented by The Lunar Foundation, spotlighting the artists and thought leaders shaping the creative industries. This event is hosted in partnership with ACC Radio-Television-Film at ACC Highland Presentation Hall Rm 2.1550. Artificial intelligence is reshaping cinematography faster than any technology since the move from film to digital. Few people are better positioned to make sense of it than Michael Goi, ASC, who chairs the American Society of Cinematographers' AI Committee. Goi joins Illuminate for a candid, working cinematographer's conversation about what AI is actually doing to the craft: where it helps, where it falls short, and what it means for the artists behind the camera. Recipient of the 2025 ASC Career Achievement in Television Award and a four-time Emmy nominee, he has shot and directed across decades of film and television, edited the 10th edition of the ASC Manual that working cinematographers train on, and now leads the ASC's effort to shape how AI enters the industry. The talk is followed by an audience Q&A and an hour mixer, so you can keep the conversation going with Michael and fellow guests. The session will be recorded and released as a video podcast. Admission is free and open to the public, with seating limited to 100, so an RSVP is required.
