SUMMARY:"Last Call" Open House & Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:The Paramount Theatre is throwing a “Last Call” Open House & Extended Happy Hour on Monday\, June 15th\, 4-8 PM. It’s a free\, public send-off before the iconic Austin venue closes for an 11-month restoration\, its first major renovation in over 50 years. The star attraction of the evening is the Paramount’s 1915 hand-painted fire curtain\, a hidden treasure that is rarely on public display. Discovered in 1974 hanging in the rafters in pristine condition\, protected from light and the elements for decades\, it’s believed to be one of (if not the) oldest surviving original fire curtain in the country. Guests will have the rare opportunity to see it up close and even take a photo with it. The night promises a true celebration of 110+ years of history on Congress Avenue: tours of the majestic space\, throwback happy hour pricing at the bars\, merchandise and a chance to toast the Paramount before the curtains close (for now). It’s the perfect send-off for one of the only century-old theatres in the country still operating as an active performance venue. Attendance is free and open to the public with an RSVP.
